Iran National Team Relocates to Mexico for World Cup Training Camp
The approximately 70-member delegation landed at Tijuana International Airport early Sunday morning at around 5 a.m. local time in the border state of Baja California. The team’s original base had been planned in Tucson, Arizona, but was later moved south of the border amid organizational and travel challenges.
From Mexico, the squad is expected to travel to the United States for its Group G matches in cities including Los Angeles and Seattle, while returning to Mexican territory on the same day as each game, based on the current arrangement.
Reports indicated that visa issues have further complicated preparations, with Iran’s ambassador to Mexico stating that entry documents had not been issued for 15 members of the team’s technical and administrative staff.
The relocation comes amid heightened regional tensions that have affected international coordination around the team’s World Cup preparations, adding additional strain ahead of the tournament.
