Russian Tanker Docks in Cuba with 100,000 Tons of Oil
"The Russian tanker 'Anatoly Kolodkin' with a humanitarian cargo of 100,000 tons of crude oil has arrived in Cuba. Currently, the vessel is awaiting unloading at the port of Manzas," the ministry said in a statement.
The arrival of the Anatoly Kolodkin draws particular attention given that it passed through waters subject to a naval blockade ordered by US President Donald Trump — yet encountered no interference. American media reported earlier Monday that the US Coast Guard did not move to intercept the vessel, despite the blockade being in effect.
The development aligns with remarks Trump himself made over the weekend, in which he indicated he harbored no objections to Russia supplying oil to the island nation. The US president had framed the shipment in humanitarian terms, suggesting that Cuba's civilian population required basic necessities regardless of the geopolitical tensions at play.
The tanker is currently standing by at the port of Manzas, awaiting offloading operations to commence.
