Trump Says Cuba “Very Close to Failing"

(MENAFN) Donald Trump issued a stark warning Tuesday regarding Cuba's economic future, predicting the island nation faces imminent collapse as crucial Venezuelan support evaporates.

The U.S. President delivered his assessment while speaking with reporters during a visit to Iowa, painting a dire picture of Cuba's deteriorating situation. His comments highlighted the Caribbean nation's heavy dependence on its South American ally for survival.

"Cuba will be failing pretty soon. Cuba is really a nation that's very close to failing," Trump stated, emphasizing the gravity of the situation facing the communist-governed island.

The President pointed to Cuba's long-standing reliance on Venezuelan assistance as the primary factor behind his prediction. For years, Havana has depended on Caracas for essential economic lifelines that sustained its struggling economy.

Trump said Cuba "got their money from Venezuela."

He elaborated on the critical nature of this relationship, specifically addressing energy resources that have kept Cuba's infrastructure operational despite domestic economic challenges and international sanctions.

"They got their oil from Venezuela. They're not getting that anymore," he added, underscoring the severed supply chain that previously sustained Cuban operations.

The remarks come amid Venezuela's own deepening crisis, which has dramatically reduced its capacity to provide foreign aid to allied nations, leaving Cuba increasingly isolated and vulnerable to economic collapse.
