US targets Haitian official with visa restrictions over gang ties
"The Department will revoke any currently valid visas held by this individual," the statement said, without revealing the official’s identity.
The visa policy, first introduced in October 2022, allows the U.S. to limit entry for individuals—and in some instances, their family members—who are believed to provide financial or material support to Haitian gangs or criminal organizations.
As stated by reports, the United States reiterated its commitment to supporting Haiti’s stability and emphasized the need for concrete progress toward free and fair elections.
"The Haitian people have had enough with gang violence, destruction, and political infighting," the statement said, adding that the Trump administration intends to hold accountable those who continue to destabilize Haiti and the surrounding region.
